"The Voice"
A Descriptive Paragraph

You are to write a descriptive story about Hardy’s poem, "The Voice". Answer the questions before you start.
Make sure you use:
Your own imagination.
What does Emma say?
How does she say it?
If she appeared as a ghost how would you picture her?
What mood do imagine Hardy is in?
What expression do you imagine on his face?
Describe how and where he is walking.
Draw a picture of the scene using the paper provided.
Do you think Hardy has a very clear picture of Emma?
Does Hardy give us much idea about what Hardy says?
What is the most solid object in the poem? Can you hold onto it? Is Hardy holding the object? Could he reach out and touch it?
Be prepared to share your description with the rest of the class.
